What would you put in a care package for a 20 year old female college student going into finals? We Answered:
When you're going into finals, you probably already have all the school supplies you'll ever want to look at!! Since it's such a stressful time, you may want to focus on giving items that will help a student relax and destress after a day of studying, or items that will make her life easier since her schedule's full of studying and leaves little time to do 'other' things. I suggest the following items:1. Hot chocolate powder or a special type of Coffee: Can relax w/ the hot chocolate, but the coffee will help her stay awake and if it's a special flavour (French Vanilla is great) it'll be a nice treat.
2. Homemade cookies: Friends of mine who live on rez or off campus and alone always tell me how much they miss the taste of home-cooked items. Store-bought, pre-packaged food starts to get pretty depressing after a while!
3. Toiletries: Shopping for basic hygiene items becomes a secondary concern when you're studying for finals. Throw in toiletries--but make it personal so it's not just a run-of-the-mill impersonal box of bathroom supplies Put in a bottle of fruity shampoo, a nice bottle body spray with a scent you know she'll enjoy, creamy soaps, a package of the 'expensive' kind of toilet paper, a new extra soft towel etc.
4. Personal CD: If you know her well, make her a personal music cd. Create a mix of songs she'll like and it'll add a nice personal touch to the whole package.
5. Package of new socks: Believe me, you run out of time to do laundry and end up going to class with holey socks! A new pack of socks will make her smile.
6. A long-distance phone-card: so she can call you when it's convenient for her!
7. A letter: filled with words of encourgement and support--it's always such a spirit booster when you receive sincere words of support from a friend--it's something you definitely need when facing the stress of finals.
8. A stuffed animal: what girl doesn't want something to cuddle??
Hope this helps you out!!

What to include in a care package for a college student? We Answered:
Some type of food is always good. Homemade, or something that he can't easily get at school (like if there is a specific brand of chips he really likes but isn't available where he goes to school or something like that) would be even better. Most candy or snack food would be easy to send in the mail and will be appreciated by him - and his friends! Other foods that don't need to be cooked or are easy to prepare are also good. Ramen noodles, Pop-Tarts, and Easy Mac were some of my favorites.Pictures and notes to keep him up to date on what's going on at home are nice.
Batteries and quarters (for laundry or vending machines) were always useful, but always seemed to be hard to find when you needed them. I wouldn't recommend putting quarters in the mail though; I don't think you're supposed to send cash.
Are there any cds he would want? Or mixed cds you could make with songs he doesn't have? Something personal like that would let him know you care, and is something he could use and enjoy a lot.
I'm sure he'll appreciate anything you send, care packages are always fun to get!

Did you send your college student a care package? We Answered:
I dont have any that old yet, and not sure which of my boys will go to college, I hope all will a tleast do a JC. But, I can tell you from experience that when in College a Care package for me was a great thing to get. I think it will vary on your own family and also financial settings. College was very tight funds wise for me, so a care package was wonderful. It was before the day of Gift cards n such, so getting fresh brownies from home, a card from my folks (Mom really but she put my dads name on it too) with a few words of to inspire me, as well as maybe a photo of my dog or the garden my mom was working on or something like that helped. She normally would include a $20 or even $30 in it for a pizza or 2 to help me study, and it was a great splurge that way. (this was back in the early 90's). My grandma called me and asked what kind of care packages I was getting from home, and I told her none, as I had not gotten any food yet, but I had gotten some note or cards with $ in them, and I spaced and did nto think of them as a care package. Well needless to say, in a few days I had a huge care package from my granny, and it was full of breads, cookies, brownies, and such. Also I had a call from my mom about 20min after i hung up with my granny asking me why I told my granny i never got care packages. And had I forgotten about the cards/notes with a $20 in them. I told my mom sorry, but from TV a care package is always like food or cookies. Now we look and laugh at those times and the memories of my Granny make me miss her more. But send some kind of care package. Be it a card with some $ just to remind your child you miss them and are thinking about them and wishing them luck on finals (and suggest they get a good pizza with it to help them study), or send some cookies as nibbles during final time. Unless they are spoiled brats with more $$ than brains, they will appreciate it a lot! If they dont, then THEY have issues to deal with and dont send them any more!!!
Hope this helps.
