Fill out a FAFSA to start. That can determine if you are eligible for government aid. Also start looking into whether he can get academically based aid.Check with the financial aid office at the school you are looking at to see about loan options.

Are there any loan companies that give college loans w/o the need of a cosigner? We Answered:
The best type of loan to get is a federal student loan. Here are the steps you need to take to get federal financial aid:
1) Fill out the FAFSA. This will determine if you are eligible for financial aid. Go here:
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
2) Once you are eligible for aid, choose a government-based student loan. The best loan to get is a Federal Perkins Loan. These have low interest rates and the government will help you pay it back as long as you stay enrolled in school. You also don't need a cosigner or good credit for it. For more info go here:

3) The next best loan to get is a Subsidized Stafford Loan. This has many of the same benefits as a Perkins Loan. Learn more here:

You can also try to get a grant or scholarship, which are both free money sources that you can use to pay for school, and you don't have to pay them back. You can read about grants here:

College loan with no cosigner and excellent credit? We Answered:
Take out federal loans only. They require no cosigner and no credit check. the interest is less an the fees are less. Private student loans are evil and have stub standard terms, higher fees, and higher interest rates.Your school will be able to give you a federal Stafford loan for the summer, and then again for next fall and spring. Here is a good book about federal loans, there is a chart that lists the max amounts you can borrow and the interest rates.
