We Answered:

Colleen Said:

Do online photography classes really work?

We Answered:

Its always better to have the tutor right there with you, only then can He/She tell if you've got the point and not got the wrong end of the stick. They will assess your knowledge, see what you need to learn and work on from there, at your pace.

Join a club where tuition can be for free or very cheap, or go on a local course. You'll progress much faster with that personal touch, online classes tend to be one size fits all.

Club competitions are a great way to measure your progress in a friendly way (usually LOL).

What are some reputable online photography classes?

We Answered:

You don't have to "go to college" to just take a photography class through the college. You can just take the class/es.

I think art institute offers online photography.
Though I do think you would probably learn more hands on but who knows!

Try the live chat and ask them how to get more info on it.

Meanwhile just play around and practice!

LVS Online has some Photography classes that don't cost much at all:
http://www.lvsonline.com/schedule.shtml

All LVS classes are 6 weeks long unless otherwise noted. Fees are:
$ 25 per course for new students (U.S. funds only)

What is it like taking online classes in Photography?

We Answered:

you dont need online classes, you need a camera, the ability to learn, and to see what youre looking at, the ability to frame the shot, select specific metering options, and get the shot youre after...

im a self taught guy, with 35yrs experience, id been doing it 20yrs before i took a qualification in it. and i learned slowly steadily and with great patience... the point is, anyone can take a camera and press a button, its the photographer with the skill, his box of tricks is merely an elaborate painting kit... and you have to learn where to point it!

theres loads of books available on pirate bay dealing with all aspects of the trade, theres lots of technobabble, and even more common sense advice... read it. and theres some important lessons.

use the rule of thirds. it helps. if you cant shoot to it, crop to it.

every photograph you see in print, has been retouched. learning photoshop effectively, it makes our job easier... faster, and therefore more cost effective to the customer.

im sorry, id love to continue this, but dawn is breaking, its 4 10 am here, and bed calls... no sunshine, just greyness...

e me...
