The most widely know 'online' university in the USA is the University of Phoenix. But I think most people in education and business would agree that you shouldnt enroll there.

To see why, read the article that was printed in the NY Times for Sunday Feb 11,2 007. It explains a lot about why they dont get much respect.

There are quite a few schools that offer courses on line. Why not look around for a school that you like that is somewhat near you, and see whether they offer SOME of the degree on line.... then you could get a more respected degree that would actually help rather than harm your career.

Yes, State universities can accept students done their associates online, only if the college from which the associates is done is accredited to authorities approved by Department of Education USA. As Herzing University is approved by the Higher Learning Commission and is also a member of the North Central Association so you won't face any problem while applying for Georgia state university. You may also need to fulfill their other requirements (if any) in order to get into the university.

There are tons of online programs. I personally attended American Intercontinental Univ. and Capella University, and I have taught for various online schools over the last five years. All are accredited and solid programs. Online courses tend to vary in price, so we could say they are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.

You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!
