Ephesians Bible Study
Jessie Said:
How can you defend free will with the Bible? We Answered:
What is meant by the freedom and or bondage of the will is a mans ability or inability to choose to save himself. Man was created with a capacity to know and serve God willingly. When he sinned and rebelled against God he lost that ability to do any spiritual good. As God told him he would surely die he in fact did die spiritually. No longer could he do any good in his own will. This is what is known as the bondage of the will. It is in bondage to sin and can't escape. Yet it is not a forced will, it goes about its fallen nature in sin willingly. That is why Jesus said unless a man is born again he cannot see the kingdom of heaven, and Paul says there is no one who seeks God. Because Adam represented all men, when he died in sin all mankind died with him because a sinner can only produce more sinners. This is the bondage that all are in. They are spiritually dead and as Jesus said the Father desires to be worshiped in "Spirit and Truth". Yes many claim to choose Jesus and some are enabled to by the Holy Spirit but others only deceive themselves. Read the passage below and tell me, didn't these people "choose Jesus and don't they think they serve Him? Don't they call Him Lord?, and yet they are cast out?Matthew 7:22-24
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
This is most sobering and caused me to tremble.
Apart from being a new creation all man can do is sin and he does it willingly, because his will is in bondage to sin.

well we are to love them but we are not to hang out with the person that dosent believe or worships the devil....if we do it may rub off that person and onto you so that is why we do not interact with people like that because again if we did then we would start questioning and doing things that they do.Francis Said:

What would happen if people would study the bible without any aids?We Answered:
The Jews had centuries of Holy Scripture interpretation by the priests and rabbis. In Acts 8:27-39: Philip asks the Ethiopian reading the prophet Isaiah, "Do you understand what you are reading?" The Ethiopian replied, "How can I, unless someone instructs me?"
The original readers of the Epistles also knew Greek and all the slang and idioms used in their time. They knew (and lived) the culture, politics, and habits of everyday life of the first century C.E.
If I knew the original languages in which the Bible were written, namely Hebrew, Greek, and a little Aramaic, archeology, and theology then maybe I would not need the Church to help me.
The Catholic Church can also delve into the riches of almost 2,000 years of constant Bible study by the most intelligent and spiritual people of each generation. Why would I want to throw this treasure away?
Translations are also an issue. Something is always lost in translation, no matter how good, how new, or how beautiful a translation is.
On a practical note, being able to keep an eye on the big picture has kept the Catholic Church together for almost 2,000 years with currently over 1.1 billion living believers.
Non-Catholic Christian Churches that interpret the Bible any way they wish keep splintering off each other to the point that there are now well over 10,000 non-Catholic Christian denominations.
With love in Christ.
